Thanks for your comments, which inspired me to correct some typos I found when I reread my post -- and to rewrite and expand the ending with a bit more though about poor Mister Lobster!

I was intrigued with your thoughts about the lobster and its family. Due to the fact that most of this article was debating whether or not to eat the lobster, it had more reasons why to not enjoy it. Because of this, i was shocked with your decision. I really enjoyed reading this.

Lovely post. The picture of you carrying books up the hill on a dark winter afternoon is just right for this time of year. Also, among the millions of bloggers worldwide, who else but you has written the name of "Monte Irvin"? I can still see his Topps baseball card as I turn it over in my hands in my grandfather's barbershop. Must have been his name. We all know ballplayers have special, baseball names, and Monte Irvin is one of the best.

I don't remember this part of the DiGiovanni story. Trenton!? ... And how did you locate the exact home, the very apartment building where you lived and mewed and puked like every other infant? Did your mother remember the addresses and give them to you? ... Remarkable. To me, this reads like fiction. ... BTW--I too like to visit the old homes where you lived as a child. I've done that in the Bronx. I have a thought that next time I go, I'll offer some money to the poor and no doubt foreign-born families living in those old apartments where your first dreams blossomed. How I'd love to see the inside, the size and arrangement of the rooms (is it like you remember?). Memories and dreams are still held in those spaces.

Glad this had a happy ending, Natty Bumpo. In fact, your almost make it sound like a dump in the river was expected after all, part of the experience. I'm guessing you paddled under a hot sun even though the Pine Barren are "cool, dark." How else could you feel comfortable sitting in the canoe again after you got wet?
